The sapwood is broad and almost white. With increasing ageing of the tree it gets down to a notedly heartwood formation, at which the tree defines to grey, brownish up to olive-colored. The wood has various shades of colors and irregular figuring in usually either flaming or striped patterns making it very decorative. The texture is medium-rough to rough and consistently irregular, while the structure is mostly straight grained. |
