Characteristics:similar in appearance to the Oak; Brown-colorations appear before the felling as striped- or occasionally constructed color variations of the native color of the healthy wood. It predominantly occurs in lower parts of the log. Causes: oxidative discolorations provoked by atmospheric influence ("weathering"); no fungal decay. Transformation of cell substance.
