| Characteristics: | The sapwood and the heartwood are clearly separated. The sapwood is light brown and of different widths, later it turns darker. The heartwood is brownish with reddish shading and often has darker to deep brown irregular stripings. The root wood presents an especially beautiful figured texture. Pores are not visible to the naked eye. Annual rings in cross-section are more or less visible. The direction of grain is irregular. Olive tree is very decorative and shrinks minimally. Freshly cut the Olive tree has a faint and peculiar smell. |
