I'm giddy!

I just delved into 3D modeling a few weeks ago. I've long wanted to pick this up as a hobby, but feared the steep learning curve. I've picked Blender and am impressed with its power. All for free! I started with a simple table, then a chair, and was working on putting them together in an interior.

Now looking for textures turned out to be quite a challenge. There are lots of free textures out there, but I simply couldn't get my floors and walls to look right. They always came out "cartoony" or "gamesy" (if that's a word).

I had seen commercial textures being offered, but somehow felt a bit strange about buying: After all, the awesome Blender was free, so would I want to pay for something as "mundane" as a texture? I also was afraid I'd have to buy a $150 package of 20 "wood veneers" just to use a single one for a table or chair, and I figured this stuff was only for professional interior designers.

Then I started to browse the contents of this site. I am blown away by the quality, and love the fact that you can buy separate textures for a very reasonable price. I think I'll buy the whole "Edition One" pack as I can see myself using many of the textures. I also think it's pretty cool to offer low-res versions of the textures for free for non-commercial use, but I have no issue with spending money on quality. And I will never use "mundane" and "texture" in the same sentence again when talking about 3D modeling.
