The wood goes from whitish to grey. The rays are very broad and good differentiated. The pores are not visible to the naked eye, in contrast the growth layers are clearly visible by poor on pores, darker summerwood as annual rings. European Beech is hard, heavy, and pressure-resistant and has a constant and straight grained structure. European Beech is good to steam and in trade it is guided as "steamed Beech" in reddish color. |
