Hello! I bought all of your wood packages and they are great, saving me a great deal of time! But I have a question about your promo-pics (http://files.arroway-textures.de/catalog/images/demos/full/demo_wood-008...)
At the top and bottom of the wooden planks the textures are clearly curled and distorted just as they would be in real life when cut - what I wonder is if this effect is achieved directly in the 3D app or have you guys done it by hand in a photo editing software?
Hope you'll answer,

It's a simple but effective trick. The end grain surfaces in our demo scenes actually use the same primary texture with some minor adjustments:
- mapping coordinates are mirrored and compressed along grain direction
- diffuse map is slightly darkened
- stronger bump setting
- where appropriate, some noise has been mixed in to the diffuse and/or bump channels
That's it. While not actually realistic, the illusion holds up for most veneer textures.
People really love your textures, but the end grain is too difficult to figure out. Could you make a small youtube video or step by step instruction on making end grain bit maps and applying them. Maxwell, modo and vray would be great.
I too am very impressed by the wood textures in your demos. What software did you use to create them?
Thanks
Dave
